Raised in creative family, art found me, and I embraced it. The exuberant energy I had for art as a child is still within me.
My dad, Bennie R. Day was a woodcarver and brother, Ben Day was an artist and university professor teaching design for over 30 years, had a wonderful influence on my love for art.
Served in the US Army for three years and worked as an Illustrator for " Infantry Magazine ".
At Ringling College of Art, I met my wife, Patsy Mauldin. We later opened an Illustration / Design Studio, " Twoday Design " for 7 years. Among some of our clients were the Mint Museum, Romare Bearden catalog and poster , Busch Gardens, Williamsburg poster, World Golf Hall of Fame program, covers for the Charlotte Motor Speedway programs and Coca-Cola Corporation posters.
Started doing watercolors in 1981 after seeing an exhibition by Joseph Raffael at the Mint Museum, Charlotte, NC and was inspired to go into Fine Arts. In 1988 I did my first Gouache Collage Painting and now in 2016 I've decided to use Acrylic paint on gesso board for my collages.
